SO many changes in my little world. As most of you know, 2016 was a rough year. Globally, nationally, locally and personally. It left me thinking “Should I be doing more?” I considered leaving my semi-retired stated and practicing law again. Maybe at the ACLU or Legal Aid? Or, maybe teaching yoga, and promoting wellness was enough. While I wasn’t seeking a new path, I certainly put it out in the Universe that I was open to receive whatever suggestions it may have.
As it always does, the Universe responded. On March 20th, I will begin employment thru the Battle Creek Community Foundation. My title is Victim/Survivor Navigator, and my responsibilities will be as the single point of contact for the victims and survivors of the mass shooting in Kalamazoo on February 20, 2016. This is a grant-funded position for the next two years. I am looking forward to contributing; in whatever way I can, to the healing journey of these individuals.
Because I believe this position will, and should be all encompassing, I am taking a step away from teaching at Down Dog Yoga Center for the foreseeable future. I also plan to take a leave of absence from my employment at Pedal. I truly love both of these “jobs,” and the decision to leave, even if it’s only for two years, was painful to say the least. I do however believe in answering this call to service, and I am honored I was chosen for this very special position.
Please feel free to reach out to me via email at firstname.lastname@example.org. I'd love it if you signed up for my monthly newsletter to keep you all apprised of any offerings I plan! You can also find me on Instagram @zooyogagirl. I anticipate due to the political nature of this new position, that I will no longer be active on Facebook.
Thank you all for your support over these past three years. Kalamazoo Yoga and Wellness would not have become what it did without you!
As always, I am yours in wellness,
